At 21-years-old, the Power Forward is already a speedster, a brute, and a master marksman. The right-shot winger can score from anywhere with his 93 wrist and slap shot accuracy, as well as the 94 slap and wrist shot power. He can push around anyone with 91 strength, 94 body checking, and can fly past the most fleet-footed defenseman with 91 acceleration, 91 speed, and 91 agility. By this point, Cechmanek is a pure puck-mover, boasting very high puck skills ratings but relatively low shooting ratings. His 94 deking, 95 hand-eye, 94 puck control, and 95 passing all make him the centrepiece of an offensive move, as do his 90 acceleration and 89 speed.

Wheeler: A 2017 NHL Draft re-draft and review of my ranking
Original Pick: Elias Pettersson The disappointment in going from one of the best young players on the planet to Nico Hischier would be devastating for Canucks fans. However, if three other teams had been much wiser, it could have been a reality. Original Pick: Lias Andersson Ah, here we are… what could the Rangers have had with their seventh pick back in June of 2017. Robert Thomas has gradually developed the way that the Blueshirts likely envisioned Andersson to. Original Pick: Casey Mittelstadt The Sabres are currently experiencing an impatient appetite to have their actual selection in Mittelstadt take on a sizable role with the big club. On the other hand, later selection Frost is currently having exactly the type of success with the Flyers that Buffalo is salivating for from Mittelstadt. Original Pick: Michael Rasmussen The Michael Rasmussen pick seemed to be a winner early into the development stages of this draft class. Original Pick: Gabriel Vilardi Although Brannstrom has since been moved by the team that had originally drafted him, the crafty Swede has already begun to emerge as an NHL capable defender. The team was widely expected to be targeting a forward with the pick, however, at the time, Max Comtois, who had been ranked as high as the top-10, has seen his stock drop all the way out of the first round. In hindsight, Comtois was in fact worthy of a first-round pick, however, just falling out of the top-10.
Despite being moved out of the desert and onto colder pastures, Suzuki is well on his way to proving his value at the NHL as a rookie with the Canadiens. Original Pick: Cal Foote The Lightning desired a defenseman to slide into their top-four with the 14th overall selection.
In Round 1, they selected Eeli Tolvanen, a Finnish sniper with a one-timer par excellence.
At the end of Round 3, they selected David Farrance, a superb two-way defenseman projected to go higher. The Leafs bolstered their organizational depth on defense, adding an attractive mix of size and skating. In Round 2, they got 6-foot-6 rearguard Eemeli Rasanen, whom Seidel named as a potential steal.
In Round 1, they added defenseman Timothy Liljegren at No.
Elias Pettersson — Vancouver Canucks Despite having the second-best odds to win the draft lottery, the Vancouver Canucks fell all the way back to fifth, putting them in that awkward spot where they would miss out on the perceived top talents but still should be able to select an impactful player. As they took the stage to make the fifth-overall selection, however, few were ready for what they were about to announce. The Canucks seemingly reached and selected forward Elias Pettersson, who divided the experts. Some havd him ranked in the top ten while others saw him as a late-first rounder at best. Once Pettersson took the ice for the Canucks, he left any of his doubters behind. He set the standard throughout his rookie season in 2018-19, posting 28 goals and 66 points en route to winning the Calder Trophy despite only playing in 71 games.
Elias Pettersson has brought superstar offensive talent to the Vancouver Canucks. So, while this pick seemed risky in the moment, it ended up being an absolute hit for the Canucks. Cody Glass — Vegas Golden Knights As the talk of the town, the hockey world waited with bated breath as the Golden Knights made their first pick as a franchise. With this selection, the Golden Knights took forward Cody Glass , a big-bodied, two-way threat that many believed would become the top-line centerpiece for the fledgling franchise. Following his selection in 2017-18, he put up 102 points in 64 games for the Portland Winterhawks of the Western Hockey League, further cementing him as a premier NHL prospect. Glass struggled with injuries and inconsistency to start his professional career, as he only played 41 games in AHL and NHL in 2019-20, scoring just 14 points. He followed that up with another disappointing split season for Vegas, leading to his trade during the 2021 offseason to the Nashville Predators.
He scored 62 points in 68 games, along with another six points in seven games in the postseason. With this newly acquired top-10 pick, the Rangers selected Swedish defenseman Lias Andersson. While many projected Andersson to have top-four potential in the NHL, he was never able to translate this to this ice for New York. This led the Rangers to reduce his ice time, which eventually led to a trade request by the young defenseman. Kings for a second-round pick.
This year was no different with Noah Cates a raw Joe Pavelski type , big goalie Kirill Ustimenko and that kid who went second overall who might be pretty decent… All jokes aside, Hextall and his staff get lots of different skill sets and positional needs every draft, which puts them in a great spot for the future. Another notable dropper was Matthew Strome, who had to wait until the fourth round before Philly snapped up the big, smart scorer. Everyone knows that Strome and to a lesser extent Vilardi needs to iron out his footwork, but he was generally seen as a second-rounder. But yet again, it feels like the team only tried to hit singles instead of taking a home run cut or two. For the second time in three years, Washington only made four selections.
The Journey: Redrafting the 2017 NHL Entry Draft

Их в клубе практически нет, а те, кто есть, через год выйдут на рынок ограниченно свободных агентов. Лучший атакующий проспект «Сент-Луиса» Ларс Эллер был обменян в «Монреаль», а все остальные перспективные игроки — центры. Все основания для этого есть. За вторую половину сезона в КХЛ Евгений подтянулся чуть ли не до уровня лидера «Трактора», и испытывает большой энтузиазм по части отъезда за океан — это было видно невооруженным глазом и по интервью, и следует из его собственных слов. В общем-то, Кузнецов прождал до 26-го номера только благодаря своему двухлетнему контракту, это тоже факт.
Небольшой опыт игры на маленьких площадках и скромные габариты однозначно говорят о том, что Кузнецов не готов к НХЛ. Да и неопределенная ситуация в «Вашингтоне» со своими игроками делает его приезд пока нежелательным. Дальше все зависит только от Евгения: если он будет хорошо кушать, много готовиться и окончательно адаптируется к игре против взрослых в КХЛ, то его можно через год ждать сразу в основном составе «Кэпиталс». Дальше — крайний форвард второго или третьего звена, а потом постепенно вверх, вплоть до третьего места в звене Овечкина и Бэкстрема. Пределов для него нет, главное — продолжать работать и совершенствоваться. К Сочи-2014 как раз может стать одним из лучших. Кирилл Кабанов «Айлендерс» Несколько месяцев назад Кирилла считали одним из самых ярких талантов мира, сейчас его забрали только в третьем раунде драфта.
Но во второй день драфта они исправились и взяли форварда Андрея Алтыбармакяна. Он так же, как и Волков, выступает в системе СКА. В прошедшем сезоне Андрей обратил на себя внимание тем, что в прямом смысле зажигал на Матче звёзд КХЛ. Форварду московского «Динамо» Алексею Липанову прочили выбор даже в первом раунде, но в итоге он стал лишь 76-м. На него глаз положила «Тампа». Липанов был капитаном юниорской сборной России на последнем чемпионате мира, его сравнивают с Игорем Ларионовым и Джонатаном Тэйвзом. Два года назад они выбрали Ивана Федотова из нижнекамского «Реактора», но это только вскружило ему голову и подпортило карьеру. Сейчас свой выбор в третьем раунде они потратили на Кирилла Устименко, который родился в Беларуси, но получил российский паспорт и выступает в МХЛ в петербургском «Динамо». Сын в прошлом известного футбольного вратаря Андрея Саморукова Дмитрий «отмучился» в третьем раунде — «Эдмонтон Ойлерз» обратил на него внимание. Сын другого известного, но уже хоккейного голкипера Вадима Тарасова Даниил пропустил весь прошлый сезон из-за травмы, но «Коламбус» видел его в деле годом ранее и посчитал, что 86-й выбор на драфте стоит потратить именно на этого игрока. Тем более кумиром в детстве Сергея Бобровского был именно Вадим Тарасов. Brannstrom has shown an ability to manufacture offence and create from the back end above and beyond his peers in Sweden and the AHL. It served to highlight concerns about his size and strength, both defensively and offensively in his ability to play with power in man-on-man battles or create the same havoc with his shot as he does with his ability to hit seams. But the Senators were awful this season and that makes evaluating most of their players — particularly the youngest ones — difficult. In Brannstrom, I see a zone exit and entry machine, a superb passer, enviable poise with the puck and just enough talent with his feet and stick to hold his own defensively. And though he became an immediate impact forward at the AHL level, he never really dictated play there as much as he should have given his skill set. His game is built for it. When he gets touches, he makes things happen. The Oilers need more players like him in their supporting cast, not less. I think both of those things can be true, even if I have to acknowledge the bias I have from being lower on Chytil than most over the years. He can skate. He plays hard and fast. You expect a 6-foot-6 defenceman to have a hard shot and to impose himself physically. In a worst-case scenario, he becomes a useful third-pairing defenceman who can contribute at both ends. In the best-case scenario, he might challenge for the top 10. The potential reward has always outweighed the risk with Hague. Always have. Always will. Did I have a little too much appreciation for it in 2017? Hopefully the injury troubles are behind him and the Flames are happy with this pick twice. Was he a first-round pick? Does he still have a chance to be an impact top-six player and dynamic power play option? But there were — and are — warts in his game. He lands at No.
He played three seasons at the University of Denver and signed with Chicago this spring. He has a chance to make an immediate impact in The Windy City. His NHL debut should come in 2020-21. I like Poehling as a depth option but the lack of offense he generates really limits his overall ceiling. He can help on the power play and kill penalties. He reminds me of Anthony Cirelli. He might be a regular in Boston as soon as next season. He saw his stock dip over the course of two seasons at the University of Michigan only to explode 31 goals, 61 points in 56 games in his first AHL season. He should be in Ottawa full time this fall. He was far better in his first AHL campaign 27 goals, 53 points in 61 games than I ever would have imagined. Jokiharju is a third-pairing regular for Buffalo.
